Buffalo Mercantile: A Journey of Passion and Purpose
Welcome to Buffalo Mercantile, where unique, handmade treasures await you. My journey began with a love for turquoise jewelry and evolved into a heartfelt business built on passion and purpose.
When I was about 6 or 7 years old I received my first piece of turquoise jewelry from my grandmother. Little did I know that this small, vibrant gem would ignite a lifelong love affair with all things handmade. As I grew older, my collection grew. Each piece carrying a story and a memory.
I pursued my studies and got my Equine Science degree at Colorado State University. Managing a thriving 100+ head horse breeding operation became my world and I loved every minute of it, until one day, my focus shifted. The arrival of my beautiful daughter, Brooklyn, changed everything.
As I held her in my arms, I knew that being present for my daughter's early years was a priority. To be honest, I really struggled with my identity as a young woman at that time. My heart longed for a way to balance my love for hard work and earning my own income with the desire to cherish every moment with Brooklyn. And so, with a LOT of prayer, dreams, and the Lord as my guide, Buffalo Mercantile was born.
The name "Buffalo Mercantile" was carefully chosen, representing a vision to create a haven where people could shop from a thoughtfully-curated collection of unique, handmade goods for their lives and homes. It symbolized my commitment to bringing only the finest quality items, sourced from artisans who poured their hearts into their craft.
My mission to bring together a diverse range of handmade treasures under one virtual roof was in full-swing, and I haven’t looked back. From exquisite jewelry to handcrafted home decor, Buffalo Mercantile became a cherished destination for those seeking something special. I’m beyond grateful for each and every customer God has sent our way. Being able to sell online has allowed me to be at home with my daughter, travel to see my family more in Oregon, and truly take charge of my own life and future.
But the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Building a business while raising a child and working 6 days/week still managing the horse farm demanded resilience, creativity, and an unwavering belief in the vision. I faced countless late nights and early mornings, balancing the demands of motherhood, with the demands of entrepreneurship and also working full-time. Yet, through it all, I remained steadfast in my commitment to creating a life that allowed me to be both a dedicated mother and a passionate businesswoman.
Today, Buffalo Mercantile stands as a testament to the power of following your passion, trusting God with unwavering faith, and embracing the possibilities that unfold when purpose and dedication unite.
