This Old Pawn beauty was handmade by William and Geneva Zunie. The handiwork is evident in the precise stonework and exceptional craftsmanship.. Stones used are: genuine Turquoise, Mother of Pearl, Spiny Oyster and Jet, all hand cut. The naja measures 2-7/8" by 2-3/8" and along with the 8 complementing stations are all strung on 7mm sterling silver pearl strands. Including the hook/eye clasp, the necklace is almost 28-1/2" long. An absolutely gorgeous piece, this Old Pawn Zuni Sunface Squash Blossom Necklace is classic, Native American jewelry at its best!
William (1938-1983) was active in the 1960's and 1970's. He worked with his wife, Geneva and they are the parents of Pattie Edaakie. He is referenced in Hougart's "Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks", Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry I", Wright's "Hallmarks of the Southwest" and Bells "Zuni: The Art and The People Vol I".
